the accounting depends on the accrual method , it is one of the most importatnt principles at financial accounting.
So, when revenue is earned this repuired to recorder the revenue regardless of collecting the cash , and the entry should be :-
DR/The debitor account
CR/ Earned Revenue
and then when amount of rent is collected the entry should be:

DR/Cash or Bank
CR / the debtior account
